I’m going to be honest with you about something I’m not proud of.
For two years, I resented my dog.
Luna — my 4-year-old golden retriever — wouldn’t let me sleep. Every. Single. Night.
She’d pace around the bedroom at 2am. Whine at the door at 3am. Scratch at the carpet at 4am. Then stare at me — just STARE — until I finally gave up and got out of bed at 5am.
I was exhausted. I was frustrated. I was angry.
And honestly? I started to wonder if I’d made a mistake getting a dog at all.
I tried everything. Late-night walks to “tire her out.” CBD treats. Letting her sleep in my bed (which just meant she paced ON the bed). I even hired a trainer who told me I needed to “be more firm” and “establish dominance.”
Nothing worked.
Then, during a routine checkup, my vet asked a question that changed everything.
